I feel Love and Logic provides a framework that can be used
for all ages of children. As an outpatient psychotherapist , I
find myself weaving in what I learned in the class into my
sessions with parents and adolescents that I am working with.
It was a very helpful and fun class.

What is "Love and Logic®"?
Love and Logic is a commonsense approach created
by
the
Love and Logic Institute, originally founded by Jim Fay and
Foster Cline, M.D. This program teaches educators and parents
skills that cultivate confidence and good decision-making in
children by offering them choices, empathy, and respect. At
the same time, adults avoid anger, threats, warnings or lectures.
Isn't that what we
all want for the children in our lives?
Children learn the best lessons
when they're given a task and allowed to make their own choices (and
fail) when the cost of failure is still small. Children's failures
must be coupled with love and empathy from their parents and
teachers.
Parents
can apply this practical and straightforward philosophy immediately
to a wide range of situations, instead of struggling with difficult
counseling procedures.
Why does Love and Logic work?
-
Uses humor, hope,
and empathy to build up the adult/child relationship
-
Emphasizes
respect and dignity for both children and adults
-
Provides real
limits in a loving way
-
Teaches
consequences and healthy decision-making

| We always
knew we wanted to use the Love and Logic philosophy to raise
our children, but were having a hard time doing it just
having read books. Taking Maureen's class provided practical
applications to the theories and allowed us to learn from
our classmates situations. It is still a work in progress,
but now we have a support network of like minded parents.
